Title: Sometimes One Time Isn't Enough
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: off screen minor character death, drug use
Spoilers: Study in Scarlet
Disclaimer: I do not own these particular incarnations of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. I also don't own the originals (though they are fortunately public domain).
Summary: It had been for a case, that first time, and some of those times after. Sherlock just hadn't thought it would stick.
Beta: None. I tried to read through this carefully though. Any Americanisms and mistakes are mine.
Notes: Written for Round 1, Cycle 4 of [info]thegameison_sh. The prompt was 'undercover'. I wanted to explore an alternative to Sherlock's past as a drug user. Double breaks are meant to be scene changes, essentially. Separators seemed excessive and just created too much of a gap in the narrative.

It always is, isn't it? )

I'm thinking about reviving, rewriting, and re-interesting myself in some of the Merlin fic I have on a flash drive. Reviving because I've let them wilt in their little digital graves. Rewriting because I write weird and I just know it's not palatable to anyone other than myself. And re-interesting myself because I've had a little bout of not being Merlin crazy even though I still follow Colin, Bradley, and Katie news through LJ. Anyhow, hopefully I'll be able to do this because I still love the characters even though I'm a lot behind on the show. I pretty much have Season 2 under my belt and I'm aware of what has happened in Season 3, I'm a bit lost.

Well, I hope I'll be able to post a finished fic soon! Even if it's not really long (which, really, all my Merlin fic ideas belong to long fic, all big bang length or multi-chapter, so I might go hunting for a more condensed idea).

Title: his heart
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: on and off screen character death (not particularly descriptive), questionable grammar
Spoilers: The Great Game
Disclaimer: I do not own these particular incarnations of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. I also don't own the originals (though they are fortunately public domain).
Summary: Sherlock holds his broken heart to his chest as he hunts Moriarty down.
Beta: The wonderful [info]janesgravity , who endured my endless insecurities about this fic and read through this fic multiple times to make sure that all the tense-changes were correct and to make sure that what I wanted to get across was actually transformed from ideas into words properly.
Notes: Entry title from Hardest of Hearts by Florence + the Machine. Inspired by John Cariani's Almost, Maine. Some parts are capitalized and some are not. Some parts are written in past tense, some are written in present tense. That might be a bit hard to overlook, for some people, but there is a rationale behind the decision to do this. This is my first Sherlock fic, so I hope it's not terrible! Cross-posted to [info]sherlockbbc , [info]bbcsherlock , and [info]johnsherlock . Sorry if I've flooded your f-list!

Sooo... I kind of wanted to start writing for Inception, so I figured, start short, so I meandered to [info]inception100 to find prompts and write drabbles.

Here's prompt 001:

you are all these things )

Cause I just got distracted by a certain fanfic for quite a while... Do lots of fandoms have AU's where the couple in question do not know each other and are either both or just one (a) BNF and then the meet online and there is going to the same con and the same panel (that invaribly involves Doctor Who) and them writing some magnificantly long fic together and getting together and shagging off screen at some point or another and a give away of their identity and also sharing the name of the characters of the pairing they ship? (why yes, that's a run on sentence)

Because, um, I need it in my life. I mean, really, really. When I read 'Pairing: Pendragon/Merlin' I couldn't stop grinning. And then, tonight, I finally read 'The Theory of Narrative Casuality'. I kind of avoided 'The Theory of Narrative Casuality' because I couldn't see it, but then everyone was reccing it (and of course, 'Pairing: Pendragon/Merlin' would pop into my mind every time I read the Sherlock version of the prompt, so there) and I really like it. Really, really liked it. I mena, the fics are totally different dispite all the similarities. They are so different.

But now, this is making me want, I don't know, an Inception (or something) version of this, though I don't know how that would work since it works in the Merlin and Sherlock fandom because those are both reimaginings of something that existed long before this particular incarnation. Though this does remind me of my friend who read a romance novel where the two main characters shared names with her and her boyfriend.

Haha. Just wanted to plop this down into my journal for no reason... Since I never really used this as a journal before, so I guess I'll just pop my random thoughts into here sometime or write about something in fandom that made me happy (like this post). Or complain about school, just because.

Probably because I can't stop changing my mind about what I'm going to be presenting. I'm going to complain because I got Lord of the Flies, which we already analysed to death with symbolism, Maslow Heirarchy, Keirsey/Jung/Myers-Briggs personality types, Freudian structure of the mind, themes (but not going to whine too much because I could have gotten books that were worse... EXCEPT THERE ARE NO FEMALE CHARACTERS in LotF...)

First: Analysis of the characters using Jung's Archetypes

Second: Analysis of characters using traditional archetypes commonly found in fiction

Third: Journal entries as Ralph, Jack, and Roger ten years in the future reflecting on their day/life in general using the Keirsey personality types to realistically extrapolate on their personalities in the book into adults that have had ten years to mature. (Weird 'cause I'm a girl... and hard... Because I'm a girl. And I'm having trouble getting into their voices)

Fourth: Analysis of what went wrong with their societies and offer counter decisions/solutions that would have given them a better chance of survival based on which each character needs to reach fufillment based on their Keirsey personality and the Maslow Heirarchy.

Fifth: Analyse the importance and affect of herd mentality and group think on the outcome of the novel and how that affects the common high school interpretation of 'humans are inherently evil'.

I'm still flip flopping between the third, fourth, and fifth choices, though I'm pretty sure I'm going to with the fifth choice. I MEAN, THE PRESENTATION IS IN JUST OVER 24 HOURS AND THE SPEECH ISN'T WRITTEN YET. Sorry for just kvetching, but I'm just frustrated with myself.

Okay, wow! This has been an amazing, wonderful, delightful journey! It was such a pleasure to work with [info]epicflailer ! ♥ I just want to shower heaps and heaps of love on her and then latch onto her leg and never let her go! (Gosh, I ♥ you!) This whole experience has just been such a happy, flail-y experience! I could just gush about how lovely this has been and how my face split into the most ridiculous grin from just thinking about the challenge, but I guess I should move on to the art! XD

So, this all started with the prompt piece (which will not appear in its original incarnation) and it was originally one piece of line art, but upon really working on it, I changed it up so that everything was done in separate bits... Warning: the background leaves much, much to be desired and I'm sorry if it burns your eyes out... D:

art post: [ here ]

although this has ended up very different from how it started, the basic idea still remained: arthur building. cobb is the architect and arthur is his point man, and according to eames, he is a stick in the mud with no imagination. i wanted arthur to have a little imagination, which is why the original prompt went along the lines of only cobb knowing how well arthur built. however, with the evolution of sperrfeuer's idea for the fic, it went from arthur building for cobb to arthur not being able to build and painting with his blood. all the white space makes better sense after reading sperrfeuer's fic! the cover art is directly related to the fic, but basically arthur is falling through his subconscious.

fanmixes: [ here ]

there are two fanmixes (download links are in the post). the first one is 'the void' and is filled with songs that sperrfeur picked out as inspiration and for this fanmix (i would totally listen to the mix while reading the fic). the second is 'far gone' which is a fanmix of music that i listened to or thought matched up with the fic and the art. the genres of music are a little bit similar in some cases even though there are no overlapping artists. the fanmixes set the mood for everything, so check it out!

most importantly, the fic! the lovely, wonderful sperrfeuer was amazing and wrote drosophilia to go with my art. this was such an easy, fluid, flexible process and it was really, really great to work with sperrfeuer! i could probably drown everyone with my gushing about working with such a wonderful writer! so please, please read her fic and leave comments for her!

Prompt Piece
losing buildings )
this piece had really evolved with the story that sperrfeuer wrote. originally, this was intended to be something happy with the prompt of "people said that arthur had no imagination, that was because they had never seen him build, but cobb has"
but it evolved as sperrfeuer's idea developed. originally the image wasn't going to be so decisively dark, but then sperrfeuer came up with the amazing image of cobb seeing arthur painting with his blood, which is how this piece came to be.
